Description
Day 3 of 5 Bird painting challenge
It's easy to dentify the scissor tail by it's dramatically long forked tail, which it uses to catch insects on the wing with sharp mid air twist and turns. Although I enjoy watching their acrobatic moves in the air the bird's beautiful colors and elegance can be observed and appreciated when they are resting still. Scissor tails typically perch on fence wire out in the open however they ocassionally supplement their insect diet by visiting berry bushes like mulberry or hackberry.
