Description
The 2nd sunset photo I took during my last night in El Paso on a recent trip. I had been a little dissappointed my trip was ending and I had not yet seen a sunset. The conditions were either not right or I was just too busy with family activities. It was a shorter than normal trip for me anyway so I knew I might not get to do everything on my list. However I figured that catching a natural occurrence of a beautiful sunset in the big open El Paso landscape would have been easy, requiring little or no planning. I had accepted the fact that it was not going to happen and felt very grateful and satisfied with everything I did get to do during my visit. My mother and I were getting ready to leave my sister's home after a wonderful dinner there when my brother in law called me to the front yard. There it was! My sunset!
This is one of the photographs I took that night. The other one is titled El Paso Sunset, also in the photographs collection.
After admiring the sunset for a few minutes I noticed a very thorny ocotillo by the home. I wanted to see if I could get a silhouetted image of it with the sunset in the background so I carefully wedged myself between it and the wall. I succesfully managed not to hurt myself with those stiff sharp needles during the process!
El Paso Texas, also known as the Sun City, is located at the western edge of Texas on the left bank of the Rio Grande. It is the largest city on the Mexican frontier. It's unique Chihuahuan desert landscapes are home to diverse flora and fauna and beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
