Artist's Description
An alien shelters in a space cave and watches for the mother ship through the cave entrance. He patiently awaits rescue and enjoys the view of the solar system and his planet off in the distance.
A group contest prompted me to share and add this painting to my FAA online collection. Since my focus and style is completely different I was a bit hesitant, however it is a popular piece among my followers and It does depict the solitude and the view that I like to incorporate into my paintings. I decided it would be a fun entry for me as I enjoy looking at this little green man!
I painted this after a trip to the UFO museum in Roswell, New Mexico, the renowned sight of an alleged 1947 UFO crash. I enjoy experimenting with styles and techniques when I need a change of pace. To create the cave walls I used a technique called a dirty pour and then added the alien and the planets with a brush.
About Roseanne Schellenberger
Welcome and thank you for visiting my online gallery! My work is a celebration of my sense of adventure and deep connection I feel with nature. I grew up in the desert region of Texas and have so many fond memories of family vacations to the surrounding attractions including some in New Mexico and Arizona. That might explain why southwestern landscapes are my favorite! I work in acrylics with a combination of brush and knife applications, gravitating towards realism with a focus on color. However, I also like to experiment with a variety of techiniques and styles including semi-abstracts. When I'm not painting I enjoy being outdoors, traveling the open road, hiking the trails, photography and planning the next adventure. -Roseanne...

This has a little touch of whimsy about it and I think it is all the better for it. Being stranded and alone is not a pleasant experience but he seems relatively content!

This is certainly a major departure from the style of the majority of your gorgeous work, but the mood of tranquil isolation is still there! I LOVE the way you put this piece together - one of my favs!
